Learn how to set up the perfect race for you and your friends.

Choosing a Game

You have three options when creating a race:

1. Curated Lists

Pre-made checklists created by the Checkpoint team for popular games. These include:

• 100% completion lists
• Platinum trophy/achievement lists
• Speedrun categories
• Custom challenge lists

2. Steam Integration

Enable "Use Steam to Search" to automatically import achievement lists from Steam games. This creates a ready-to-use checklist based on the game's official achievements.

3. Custom Checklists

Create completely custom objectives for any game:

• Add objectives with descriptions
• Organize them in any order
• Export and share with the community
• Import checklists from JSON files

Inviting Participants

After creating your race, you'll receive a unique invite code. Share this code in two ways:

1. Copy Code: Share the short code (e.g., ARK-2K9X)
2. Copy Link: Share a direct link to join

Managing Your Race

Once your race is created, you can:

• Add or remove checkpoints
• Track progress in real-time
• Use the built-in timer
• Chat with your opponent
• Export race data for later

Marking Checkpoints Complete

As you complete objectives in-game, check them off in Checkpoint:

1. Click the checkbox next to the objective
2. Your progress updates instantly
3. Your opponent sees your update in real-time
4. The progress bar and percentages update automatically

Using the Timer

Track how long your race takes:

• Click "Start Timer" when you begin
• The timer runs continuously
• Pause/Resume as needed
• Your total time is recorded upon completion

Communication

Stay connected with your opponent:

• Race Chat: Send messages during the race
• Taunts: Use built-in taunts to keep things competitive
• Notifications: Get alerts when opponents complete objectives

Winning Strategies

• Plan Ahead: Review the checklist before starting
• Efficient Routing: Complete objectives in a logical order
• Stay Focused: Don't get distracted by taunts!
• Use Chat Wisely: Coordinate or strategize if it's a co-op race

👥 Social Features

Connect with other racers and build your competitive network.

Adding Rivals

Build your list of racing rivals:

1. Go to "Find Racers" or search for users
2. Click "Add Friend" on their profile
3. Wait for them to accept your request
4. View your rivals in the Rivals page

Messaging

The messaging system allows you to:

• Chat one-on-one with rivals
• Discuss race strategies
• Coordinate race schedules
• Send race invitations

User Profiles

View detailed information about any racer:

• Race history and statistics
• Win rate and total races
• Recent achievements
• Current active races

Privacy Settings

Control your visibility in Settings → Privacy:

• Profile visibility (public/friends/private)
• Online status visibility
• Who can send you taunts
• Who can invite you to races

🏆 Achievements

Track your progress and unlock special rewards.

Achievement Categories

• Milestones: Win your 1st, 10th, 50th, 100th race
• Speed: Complete races under specific times
• Streaks: Win multiple races in a row
• Social: Add rivals, send messages, participate in community
• Completion: 100% various race types

Viewing Achievements

Access your achievements from:

• Your profile page
• Dedicated Achievements page

Sharing Achievements

Show off your accomplishments:

• Click "Share" on any unlocked achievement
• Share on social media
• Include in your profile showcase

🔧 Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to solve them.

Race Not Updating

If your race progress isn't syncing:

1. Refresh the page
2. Check your internet connection
3. Clear browser cache and cookies
4. Try a different browser

Invite Code Not Working

If someone can't join your race:

• Verify the code is correct (case-sensitive)
• Check that the race hasn't been deleted
• Ensure the race isn't already full
• Try generating a new invite code

Missing Achievements

If achievements aren't unlocking:

• Wait a few minutes - they may be delayed
• Check the achievement requirements carefully
• Refresh your profile page
• Contact support if the issue persists

Login Issues

Can't access your account?

• Use "Forgot Password" to reset
• Check your email for verification links
• Try alternative login methods (Google/Discord)
• Clear browser cookies and try again

Checkpoint works best on:
